The Carolina Panthers’ coaching staff is slowly but surely starting to fill up.

Following the arrivals of head coach Frank Reich and defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, the Panthers have agreed to terms with linebackers coach Peter Hansen. Evero and Hansen worked together last season with the Denver Broncos.

Mike Siravo previously served as the Panthers’ linebackers coach under Matt Rhule and Steve Wilks.

Hansen played college football and basketball for the University of Arizona before turning to coaching in 2008. Hansen started his coaching career at Stanford as a strength and conditioning coach before becoming a defensive assistant coach. He eventually landed a defensive assistant job with the San Francisco 49ers in 2011.

After leaving the 49ers in 2014, Hansen returned to Stanford as a linebackers coach. Following a six-year reunion with Stanford, Hansen was hired as the defensive coordinator for UNLV in 2020. He was hired by the Broncos to coach the team’s linebackers this past season.

Hansen joins a Panthers staff with a few holdovers from the Rhule era. The Observer has previously reported that offensive line coach James Campen and special teams coordinator Chris Tabor will be retained by Reich on his staff.

The Panthers have yet to announce any other members of their staff outside of Reich, Evero and Hansen as of Wednesday.

Wilks, the team’s former interim head coach, is expected to be named the new defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers. Wilks led the Panthers to a 6-6 record after taking over for Rhule after a 1-4 start to this past season.
