Panthers round out offensive staff by hiring UNC tight ends coach John Lilly
The Carolina Panthers have filled the final major opening on Frank Reich’s coaching staff.
On Thursday, the Panthers hired John Lilly as tight ends coach, the team announced.
Lilly spent the past three seasons as tight ends coach for the University of North Carolina. He had recently added run game coordinator to his title.
Lilly played college football at Guilford College before starting his coaching career at Northwest Guilford High School in 1991.
Lilly has mostly worked in college football during his 30-year coaching career. He has served in a few different roles throughout his career with Florida State, Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina. However, he did serve as tight ends coach for the Los Angeles Rams in 2016 and Cleveland Browns in 2019.
Lilly worked with new Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown at Georgia in 2011 and 2015.
