Former Panthers defensive tackle Bravvion Roy didn’t have to wait too long to find his next NFL home.

Roy, a 2020 sixth-round pick, was placed on waivers on Monday by Carolina. On Tuesday, Roy was claimed by the Chicago Bears, who own the top priority on the waiver wire.

In Chicago, Roy — listed as 6-foot-1 and 330 pounds — will reunite with former Carolina teammates, wideout DJ Moore, quarterback PJ Walker and running back D’Onta Foreman.

The Panthers have been linked to the Bears throughout the offseason, as the two teams completed a trade — which included Moore — in March to land Carolina the first overall pick in April’s draft. The Panthers used that selection to take rookie quarterback Bryce Young, who is currently leading the Carolina offense.

Roy spent three seasons in Carolina. He played under Matt Rhule at Baylor, and the former Panthers head coach spent a late-round pick on Roy during his first draft at the helm. Roy produced 76 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and five pass breakups during his tenure in Carolina.

The Panthers have been busy retooling the bottom of their defensive depth chart this week. Roy was replaced by defensive end LaBryan Ray on Monday. Linebacker Deion Jones and defensive tackle Matt Thurman were added on Tuesday with defensive tackle John Penisini and linebacker Arron Mosby being waived in corresponding moves.

The Panthers’ roster is set at the 90-man limit following the team’s fifth training camp practice.
