With starting cornerback Jaycee Horn dealing with a hamstring injury, the Panthers made a roster move to add depth to the secondary.

Tuesday, the Panthers signed cornerback Lamar Jackson to the practice squad. The team released wideout Dezmon Patmon from the practice roster in a corresponding move.

Jackson, 25, spent part of last season with Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero in Denver. The Nebraska alum, listed as 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, has played three seasons in the NFL for the Broncos, Bears and Jets. He’s collected 31 tackles and two pass breakups in 22 career games.

Jackson will work with the defense in practice while Horn nurses his hamstring injury. Horn left Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the second quarter and didn’t return. Monday, head coach Frank Reich confirmed Horn sustained a hamstring injury.

The Panthers currently have Donte Jackson, CJ Henderson, Troy Hill and rookie D’Shawn Jamison at cornerback on their 53-man roster. Jackson joins Stantley Thomas-Oliver and Mark Milton at the position on the practice squad.

The practice squad is once again at the 16-man limit.
