Carolina Panthers Week 4 injury report: Latest on Bryce Young, Miles Sanders, Jonathan Mingo

The Carolina Panthers will have rookie quarterback Bryce Young in the lineup Sunday at Bank of America Stadium against the Minnesota Vikings.

Young, who missed the team’s Week 3 loss to Seattle with an ankle injury, practiced as a full participant throughout the week. He will take over as the team’s starting quarterback after Andy Dalton led the offense against the Seahawks.

While the Panthers will have Young in the lineup, linebacker Frankie Luvu (hip), running back Miles Sanders (groin) and wideout Jonathan Mingo (concussion protocol) will be listed as “questionable” heading into the Week 4 matchup.

Luvu missed Wednesday’s practice but worked out in a limited capacity on Thursday and Friday. Sanders was limited for the first two workouts of the week, but didn’t practice on Friday. Panthers head coach Frank Reich said he was “optimistic” about both players.

If Luvu doesn’t play, Kamu Grugier-Hill and Deion Jones would likely start at inside linebacker. If Sanders can’t go, Chuba Hubbard would start and get the bulk of the carries. The Panthers also have Raheem Blackshear at running back, and wideout Laviska Shenault has also received snaps out of the backfield during the first month of the season. Reich also expressed in enthusiasm about running back/returner Tarik Cohen’s progress on the practice squad this week.

Mingo is still within the concussion protocol. If he can’t play against the Vikings, Terrace Marshall will have a larger role within the offense.

The team ruled out safety Xavier Woods (hamstring) on Friday. Woods was injured in the Week 3 loss to Seattle.

Below is the complete final injury report for Carolina:

OUT: FS Xavier Woods (hamstring)

Questionable: LB Frankie Luvu (hip), RB Miles Sanders (groin), WR Jonathan Mingo (concussion protocol)
