Why Bryce Young is struggling in his rookie season with the Carolina Panthers

Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young has dealt with his fair share of adversity this season.

The Heisman trophy-winner and April’s first overall draft pick has been forced to overcome a lackluster supporting cast, all while dealing with the regular growing pains that come with an initial NFL season.

Through eight games, Young has completed just 62.8% of his passes for 1,560 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. He threw a pair of pick-6s in a 27-13 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9 and failed to lead a touchdown-scoring drive in a 16-13 loss against the Chicago Bears in Week 10.

On the latest episode of the “Processing Blue” podcast, host Langston Wertz Jr. and Panthers beat writer Mike Kaye discuss the root of Young’s rookie struggles. Is Young to blame for the offensive miscues, or is the environment around him causing him to make mistakes? Kaye and Wertz discuss the biggest issues within the offense.

Plus, the duo chat about the leadership hot seat that comes with a 1-8 start. With general manager Scott Fitterer and head coach Frank Reich taking flack from fans, Wertz and Kaye discuss who’s seat is warmer at the moment.
