Panthers Week 18 injury report: Latest on Eddy Piñeiro, Jaycee Horn and more
The Panthers are likely to close out the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a new kicker.
Friday, the team listed kicker Eddy Piñeiro (hamstring) as doubtful heading into Sunday’s matchup at Bank of America Stadium. Recently signed kicker Matthew Wright is likely to be elevated from the practice squad this weekend.
Starting guard Cade Mays (finger) was also listed as doubtful. He is likely to be replaced by rookie Nash Jansen against the Buccaneers.
The team ruled out pass rusher Marquis Haynes (concussion). Rookies DJ Johnson and Eku Leota are likely to fill the void left by Haynes.
Cornerback Jaycee Horn (toe) and linebacker Tae Davis (illness) were listed as questionable.
Horn missed last week’s game but has been practicing well this week, according to interim head coach Chris Tabor. Horn was replaced last week by Shaquill Griffin. Davis mostly contributes on special teams.
Cornerback Troy Hill has cleared NFL concussion protocol after missing the loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
