Carolina Panthers

Is Panthers’ GM job a tough sell after the firing of Scott Fitterer and a 2-15 season?

The Carolina Panthers are searching for a new GM following the Monday firing of Scott Fitterer.

After a 2-15 campaign, owner David Tepper dismissed Fitterer, who lasted just three years on the job. Fitterer’s tenure outlived former head coach Frank Reich’s 11-game stint — but only by six weeks.

With Fitterer out of the picture, the Panthers will begin to look for a new GM and a new head coach to lead the organization. But will those jobs be appealing to the top candidates on their respective carousels?

On the latest episode of the Processing Blue podcast, Observer sports columnist Scott Fowler and Panthers beat reporter Mike Kaye discuss the upcoming GM search. Both of the writers weigh in on the appeal of the opening and who could be targeted over the coming weeks.

Will Tepper’s recent history hurt the Panthers’ chances of landing a big fish at GM?

Also, Fowler and Kaye discuss the open head coach job, who could join the new GM with a clean slate in Carolina and what sort of hope a new coach and GM can sell to a fan base disillusioned by six straight years of losing seasons.
