Bank of America Stadium will host two teams going in opposite directions this weekend.

The Carolina Panthers (1-4) will take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-2) in Charlotte in Week 6 of the NFL season. The Falcons are fresh off an overtime win over the Tampa Bay Bucs thanks to the golden arm of Kirk Cousins.

Meanwhile the Panthers laid an egg against the Chicago Bears — making struggling rookie quarterback Caleb Williams look like Patrick Mahomes.

Here’s what you need to know ahead of the Week 6 contest:

Where and when is the Panthers vs. Falcons game?

The game on Sunday, Oct. 13, will be played at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. It’s scheduled to kick off at 4:25 p.m. EST.

The Panthers will be without four starters against the Falcons. Jewell will be replaced by Claudin Cherelus for a second consecutive game. Clowney will be replaced by a rotation that includes Marquis Haynes, Charles Harris, Tarron Jackson and Thomas Incoom. Tremble will be replaced by newly activated veteran Ian Thomas at tight end. Moton, as expected, will be replaced by swing tackle Yosh Nijman at right tackle.

The Falcons’ inactive list is below:

OLB Troy Andersen

G Jovaughn Gwyn

DT Kentavious Street

DT Brandon Dorlus

RB Jase McClellan

OT Brandon Parker

OT Elijah Wilkinson

Carolina Panthers transactions: Austin Corbett to IR, Ian Thomas activated from IR

The Panthers announced a flurry of transaction news prior to their contest with the Falcons. Among them:

The team officially moved starting center Austin Corbett, who sustained a season-ending biceps injury, to the injured reserve list.

The Panthers also signed outside linebacker Marquis Haynes, who will be active on Sunday, providing some depth to a thin pass rush unit (particularly with Jadeveon Clowney listed as “doubtful”).

Tight end Ian Thomas has been activated to the 53-man roster and will play Sunday. The veteran started the season on the injured reserve list but has been practicing with the team the past two weeks.

The Panthers have also promoted defensive tackle TJ Smith and guard Brandon Walton from the practice squad.

Cornerback Dane Jackson won’t make his Panthers debut this week. He has been downgraded to “out” ahead of the Falcons game; he started as “questionable.” Jackson (hamstring) started the season on the injured reserve list with Thomas.

What’s the betting line?

The Panthers opened as 3-point underdogs to the Falcons, according to Vegas Insider. That might change throughout the week, however, given the injuries that Panthers are facing and the ineptitude they showed on offense Sunday against the Bears — which is something that the Panthers hadn’t witnessed since Andy Dalton took over as the starter.

DraftKings has the Panthers at +136 to win and the Falcons at -162. The over/under opened at 45. All betting sites seem to have it hovering around there; the Panthers have hit the over in all but one game and are +8.3 in this regard, according to Team Rankings.

To say the Panthers and the Falcons are going in different directions is an understatement.

The Panthers allowed 30 straight points to a Bears offense that previously was serviceable at best — a product of a defense that has struggled tackling in the open field and stopping the run. Some of that is because of injuries, and those worries are valid again: Jadeveon Clowney, the team’s EDGE rusher and best run-stopper with Derrick Brown gone, left the game and didn’t return with a shoulder injury.

The Falcons, meanwhile, are looking as explosive as ever. In their 36-30 win over the Tampa Bay Bucs, their starting quarterback, Kirk Cousins, went 42 for 58 with 509 yards and four touchdowns and only one interception. Atlanta is finding its explosiveness just as the Panthers are losing theirs.
