This weekend will feature a rematch from Week 1.

And it’s a game the Carolina Panthers hope to never repeat.

Carolina, now 1-7 after falling to the Denver Broncos this past weekend, is set to face the New Orleans Saints (2-6) at 1 p.m. Sunday in Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The Saints defeated their NFC South foes 47-10 in New Orleans last month.

Here’s what you need to know ahead of the game.

How to watch the game

Fans can watch the game on CBS.

Inactives for Carolina Panthers vs. New Orleans Saints

Carolina will be without their starting tight end in Tommy Tremble and starting left tackle in Ickey Ekwonu. Tough blows for second-year quarterback and a Panthers offense that has struggled as of late. The home team also be without all five of their guys on the injured reserve list who haven’t yet been activated to the 53-man roster. Those players: safety Jordan Fuller, wide receiver Adam Thielen, defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy, outside linebacker DJ Wonnum and running back Jonathon Brooks.

The Panthers’ inactive list:

  • S Jammie Robinson

  • CB Shemar Bartholomew

  • OLB DJ Johnson

  • LT Ikem Ekwonu

  • TE Tommy Tremble

  • TE Feleipe Franks

The Saints’ inactive list:

  • CB Kool-Aid McKinstry

  • CB Marshon Lattimore

  • RB Jamaal Williams

  • CB Rico Payton

  • LB Jaylan Ford

  • DT John Ridgeway III

  • QB Spencer Rattler (designated third quarterback)

Betting odds, advice

The Panthers lost to the Saints by 37 points in Week 1 — which still stands as the fourth-worst loss in franchise history. The spread isn’t that ambitious. But it’s more than you might anticipate given that the Saints are losers of six straight after starting the year 2-0.

Carolina was a 7.5-point underdog in its matchup with New Orleans, according to FanDuel Sportsbook on Sunday morning. The over/under was at 43 points as of the same time. A Panthers moneyline pick is at -345.
