The Carolina Panthers will hold off on Jonathon Brooks’ NFL debut for at least two more weeks.

The second-round pick was listed among the team’s inactives ahead of the Munich matchup between the Panthers and the New York Giants at Allianz Arena on Sunday. Brooks, who was just activated from the non-football injury list, will be able to prepare during the bye week for a potential debut at home against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12 at Bank of America Stadium.

Brooks hasn’t played in a game in essentially an entire year as he sustained a torn ACL while playing for the Texas Longhorns last November.

While Brooks isn’t available, pass rusher D.J. Wonnum is ready to make his Panthers debut in Germany. The former Minnesota Vikings linebacker was activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Saturday. He had been sidelined since December of last year due to a quadriceps injury that required surgery. He later had a setback after suffering a blood clot.

Wonnum will join a pass rushing group led by fellow veterans, Jadeveon Clowney and DJ Johnson.

Safety Jordan Fuller, who was activated from injured reserve on Saturday, will also return to the field after being sidelined on the injury list since Week 4.

The Panthers announced prior to the game that safety Jammie Robinson flew back to the United States due to a personal reason.

Below are the full inactive lists for both teams:

Panthers

  • S Jammie Robinson
  • RB Jonathon Brooks
  • CB Shemar Bartholomew
  • DE Charles Harris
  • T Ikem Ekwonu
  • TE Tommy Tremble
  • DT Jaden Crumedy

  • ILB Darius Muasau
  • G Jake Kubas
  • WR Darius Slayton

When and where is the Panthers game in Germany?

The Panthers will play the Giants (2-7) at Allianz Arena, home of football club Bayern Munich since the 2005-06 season. The kickoff is set for 9:30 a.m. ET; that’s 3:30 p.m. in Germany.

The game will technically be a home game for Carolina. That’s a double-edged sword. On the one hand, there are a whole bunch of fun fan activities the team has planned, and there are a bunch of traditions the Panthers will bring to Germany, a place the franchise has had the marketing rights to since 2021. On the other hand, PSL owners had to pay extra to attend the home game, something that drew the ire of a bunch of fans when the news first surfaced.

How to watch the game

You can watch the game on WCNC-TV, Charlotte’s NBC affiliate. You can also catch it on NFL Network and stream it on YouTube TV and FuboTV with valid subscriptions.

Halftime show?

Grammy-nominated artist Machine Gun Kelly will perform at halftime of the international contest. MGK’s recent song release “Lonely Road” pays homage to the famous song German NFL fans sing throughout the season: John Denver’s “Take Me Home Country Roads.”

Series history

The Panthers are 7-6 all-time against the Giants. Carolina is 3-1 at home, 4-5 on the road. Carolina won the only playoff game between the two teams.

It’s worth noting the Panthers have only played internationally one other time — in 2019, when they defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 37-26 win in London.
