A quick look at Panthers linebacker Ben Jacobs:

Height: 6-4.

Weight: 240.

College: Fresno State.

NFL experience: Third year.

The scoop: Signed to the Panthers practice squad in 2013, Jacobs has worked his way up to be a solid special teams contributor. He played in all 16 games last season but mainly on special teams. Carolina has placed a greater emphasis on special teams aces this offseason after the dreadful 2014 for the group and brought in the likes of LB Jason Trusnik and Brian Blechen to help them. By drafting LB David Mayo in the fifth round, the Panthers put even more pressure on Jacobs to deliver on both defense and special teams this camp if he’s to earn a final roster spot.
