What Carolina Panthers hope to learn in practice vs. Shedeur Sanders, Browns
The Carolina Panthers host the Cleveland Browns in Charlotte on Wednesday for the team’s first joint practice of the preseason.
And with that, there are many things we hope to glean from Wednesday’s competition:
How will Tetairoa McMillan stack up against the Browns’ cornerback corps?
Did the Panthers miss out on defensive lineman Mason Graham, who was selected in the draft a few picks before the Panthers could’ve taken him?
How will the Panthers’ secondary stack up against a group of quarterbacks that is ... well ... still a work in progress in Cleveland?
Oh, and how will Shedeur Sanders look in his first few meaningful reps against a first-team defense?
To sufficiently preview the practice, Observer writers Mike Kaye and Alex Zietlow try to answer these questions with their own analysis and then also call in an ace reporter on the Browns’ side of things: Mary Kay Cabot of The Plain Dealer in Cleveland, who was recently inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
Kaye and Zietlow also talk about the massive leaps the Panthers’ 2024 draft class seems to be poised to take in 2025, as well as two rookie undrafted players — in Bam Martin-Scott and Corey Thornton — who look poised to have a shot at making the 53-man roster.
