What advice would Jake Delhomme give Bryce Young for Panthers-Rams game?
The Carolina Panthers are playing the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs.
Sound familiar?
It certainly does to Jake Delhomme.
On the latest episode of Processing Blue — The Charlotte Observer’s all-things-Panthers podcast — the former Panthers quarterback and current Panthers radio analyst reminisced on that Jan. 10, 2004 day, when the underdog Panthers defeated the then-St. Louis Rams in double overtime. The victory was one of a handful that led to the Panthers’ first appearance in a Super Bowl — and it’s a game considered by some to be the best in franchise history. Delhomme turned 29 on that day, when he threw the 69-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith to win the game, 29-23. He will turn 51 on Saturday, when he calls the Panthers-L.A. Rams game as a radio analyst for Carolina.
Delhomme was interviewed by Observer columnist Scott Fowler, who in 17 minutes probed the Panthers Hall of Honor inductee on a variety of topics. Among the most prominent: What advice would you give current quarterback Bryce Young ahead of Saturday’s 4:30 p.m. kick against the heavily favored Rams? Delhomme’s answer, by turns humorous and insightful, is worth listening to.
In addition to this, beat reporters Mike Kaye and Alex Zietlow broke down the matchup and offered their predictions on the contest, as is customary. They also discussed the latest transaction news (welcome back David Moore), how fans should feel about “moonwalking” into the playoffs and more.
