Ten questions about life off the field with Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Dwan Edwards.

Q. You became a father again on Father’s Day this year. How do y’all handle five kids?

A. It’s challenge, it’s definitely tough. But my wife’s a pro at it, has been doing it for a long time. We work great together. Luckily we’ve had some family come out and help us, too, and get us going in the right direction.

Q. Are your kids close in age?

A. I’ve got three older ones and then two that are pretty close. I’ve got a 2 year-old and a 2-month-old. They definitely make it pretty challenging.

Q. Will you let your boys play football?

A. I’ve got three boys. My son has played one year of tackle football. I didn’t really care for it too much. I honestly didn’t think he had as much fun doing that as he did playing flag football. I guess he’s more of a skill guy so (flag) was a little bit funner for him. I’d just as soon wait until he’s older and bigger and let him start playing contact football.

Q. How old were you when you started playing?

A. Probably sixth grade. I’ve been playing ever since.

Q. What’s your favorite family activity in Charlotte?

A. I would say it’s the whitewater center. Just exploring Charlotte, exploring the good food and good restaurants around here. Definitely Freedom Park and getting to know Charlotte.

Q. Did you raft at the whitewater center?

A. I didn’t get to that. We tried to arrange something as a team to go. We didn’t get to it. But I love that stuff. I grew up in Montana.

Q. So you grew up going to the natural whitewater?

A. Definitely.

Q. Were you a skier?

A. Yeah, I grew up skiing. When I got in high school I kind of cut if off for fear of injury type deal. But yeah, I love skiing and being outdoors, snowboarding.

Q. Have you done since you’ve been in the NFL?

A. I did it a couple times in Buffalo. They’ve got a hill. I don’t even want to call it a mountain. It’s not much of a mountain. But my kid got to learn how to snowboard. So when we were all up there I got to do it a couple times.

Q. So is there a sixth child in your future?

A. No way, no how. We’re plenty busy and plenty happy with the ones we’ve got. I’ll be looking to get that (vasectomy) taken care of as soon as possible, for sure.
