The Carolina Panthers signed second-year offensive tackle David Foucault from the practice squad and waived defensive end Wes Horton on Saturday.

Amini Silatolu’s high ankle sprain at practice this week left the Panthers without a true backup tackle and necessitated the call-up of Foucault, a French-Canadian who struggled against the Saints last season in his only NFL start.

Horton, undrafted out of Southern Cal in 2013, started 15 games last season after Greg Hardy was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list. But Horton had only three sacks in 2014, and had yet to record one through three games this season.
