Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton not fined for banner incident
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was not fined by the NFL for ripping down a Green Bay Packers fan’s banner before last week’s win against Green Bay.
Safety Roman Harper was fined $8,681 for his unnecessary roughness penalty against Packers tight end Richard Rodgers when he threw Rodgers to the ground out of bounds.
Cornerback Josh Norman was fined $5,787 for wearing cleats bearing a personal message that was not approved by the NFL. The cleats were red, white and blue and had the message “Proud, Brave” on the side for the NFL’s Salute to Service Week.
Also, Packers linebacker Julius Peppers was not fined for his game of keep-away with Newton after the first Panthers’ touchdown in the game. Peppers kept the ball away from Newton and threw it to a ball boy before Newton went to retrieve it.
