Wet weather keeps some Carolina Panthers off practice field on Wednesday
Running back Jonathan Stewart and free safety Kurt Coleman did not practice on Wednesday, but Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera said that was more of a product of the bad weather than anything else.
Both Stewart and Coleman are battling foot sprains – though Coleman’s is less severe than Stewart’s, and the wet conditions kept both of them inside.
“Not in these conditions,” Rivera said. “Anybody with an ankle or knee was not going to practice.”
Rain fell constantly throughout Wednesday morning’s practice, oscillating from light rain to downpour. Receiver Ted Ginn Jr. (knee) also did not practice, though he was on the field.
Center Ryan Kalil didn’t practice because of the stomach flu but should play this week against Tampa Bay.
Linebacker/special teamer David Mayo (hamstring) returned to practice for the first time since being injured against Atlanta in Week 14.
