Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera will attend his first game at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham on Saturday to watch Duke play Virginia Tech.

Rivera has appeared on Mike Krzyzewski’s weekly show on SiriusXM and pointed out that Krzyzewski is a Chicago guy and longtime Bears fan.

Rivera, who played for the Bears for nine seasons, plans to watch how Krzyzewski coaches, much like Rivera kept an eye on North Carolina coach Roy Williams when he attended a Tar Heels’ game.

Stephanie Rivera, a former WNBA assistant, will accompany her husband to Durham.

“I’ll have my assistant coach with me, Stephanie, and she’s going to talk basketball the whole time and I’ll have to listen to her,” Rivera said. “It’s kind of a neat deal.”
