Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen broke a small bone in his foot, and the fear is he will miss the rest of the postseason.

A team source told the Observer Allen injured his foot during the game but played through it. He was not on crutches after the game, and he wants to play through it. Allen will have the foot evaluated Monday.

But a source indicated the injury is similar to the one Star Lotulelei had in last season’s playoffs that forced him to have surgery and miss the remainder of the postseason.

Allen, 33, had three quarterback hits on Sunday but no sacks.

If Allen’s unable to play, the Panthers will likely go with Kony Ealy at starting defensive end opposite Charles Johnson. Mario Addison could also see more playing time.
