Panthers CB Josh Norman: ‘We could’ve put a 50-burger up there'
Carolina Pro Bowl cornerback Josh Norman always wears his emotions on his sleeve, and Sunday was no different after the Panthers secured the second Super Bowl appearance in their history.
Norman fought back tears when first addressing reporters, but a few minutes later he had the crowd around him laughing.
Talking about the Panthers’ 49-point outburst – the most in an NFC Championship Game – Norman said: “We could’ve put a 50-burger up there. Coach pulled us back. Man, we were hungry to get it.”
Norman then talked about the four interceptions and seven takeaways the Panthers had against the Cardinals, and the fact that the Panthers’ season will last another two weeks.
“We get a travel bag, not a trash bag. I’m not in here Monday getting a trash bag and cleaning my locker out and going home,” Norman said. “No. I’m in here packing my bags to go to Santa Clara because that’s where we’ll be. And I just cannot wait. We’re going to have a lot of mail on Thieves Ave. this week.”
The secondary has named its section of the locker room Thieves Ave., complete with a sign.
“We’re just going to be blessed and humble for everything, even the hate mail,” Norman said. “We love that, too.”
