NFL draft: Carolina Panthers’ selection, Round 2, pick 62 – James Bradberry
James Bradberry
Ht.: 6-1. Wt.: 211.
Position: Cornerback
College: Samford
What he offers: Bradberry is a big corner cut in the mold of Josh Norman, whose franchise tag was rescinded. Bradberry tackles well – a must in Sean McDermott’s system – but is a raw prospect who was projected to be drafted in the middle to late rounds.
Worth mentioning: Bradberry began his career at Arkansas State as a safety but transferred to Samford to play corner. … Had eight career interceptions and 27 pass breakups and looked good in press coverage at the Senior Bowl, according to scouts.
Bet you didn’t know: He also played basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society at his high school in Pleasant Grove, Ala.
What they’re saying: “This is an intriguing developmental corner. … He’s long. He’s got good movement skills. He’s very raw. But in Carolina they protect their corners a little bit. He tackles and he’ll fit in with what Sean McDermott does.” – NFL Network’s Mike Mayock.
