NFL draft: Carolina Panthers’ selection, round 3, pick 77 - Daryl Worley
Daryl Worley
Ht.: 6-1. Wt.: 202.
Position: Cornerback.
College: West Virginia.
What he offers: Another long, rangy, athletic corner to add to Carolina’s stock. Worley showed his ability to find the ball well during his time with the Mountaineers. Carolina had a second-round grade on him, general manager Dave Gettleman said.
Worth mentioning: His six interceptions in his junior season were the second-most in the Big 12 last year. ....He didn’t play in the team’s Catcus Bowl due to academic issues.
Bet you didn’t know: Worley was told by the draft advisory board that he would be picked in the fourth round and to stay in school. He was too confident in his abilities, though, and decided to leave school one year early.
What they’re saying: “The Panthers have clearly identified their 'type' among cornerbacks...At 6-foot-1, 204 pounds with 33 and 3/8-inch arms, Worley should prove adept at jamming at the line of scrimmage.” --Rotoworld.com.
