The Carolina Panthers’ good injury fortunes ended Sunday when reserve defensive tackle Chas Alecxih was carted off after hurting his left knee during a 2-on-2 blocking drill.
Panthers coach Rivera said Alecxih will be examined Monday, “but the prognosis right now is very guarded.”
The Panthers made it through their first eight training camp practices without a serious injury until Alecxih went to the ground early in Sunday’s session after his left foot appeared to get stuck in the grass. Several defensive teammates checked on Alecxih before he was carted to the training room.
“I hate to say this – it’s one of those things that’s inevitable. Unfortunately it was,” Rivera said. “The young man’s having a great camp and that’s always a disappointment, too.”
