Sunday night, Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis did a favor for a friend.
He helped Ardrey Kell High senior Jamire’ Braswell get a date for the school prom Saturday. Jamire’, 18, said he met Hannah Strickland two months ago and really wanted to take her to the prom. He wanted to do something memorable when he asked.
“I knew she liked sports and I didn’t want to do anything cheesy,” Jamire’ said.
Jamire’ said he and his mother, April Robinson, have known Davis for years. Jamire’ said he refers to him as “Uncle Thomas.”

So Jamire’ asked Davis for help and Davis took to Instagram Sunday night, leaving a message for his friend.
“Miss Hannah S at Ardrey Kell High School,” Davis began, “my buddy Jamire’ Braswell wants to take you to the prom. So...if you follow me and you know Hannah, reach out to Hannah and let her know what’s up. Let her know that Jamire’ wants to take her to the prom.”
So Hannah saw Davis’ message, and she said yes. At school Monday, Braswell said all of his friends were talking about it.
“People were like, ‘That’s really smooth,’ ” Braswell said. “They liked it.”
More importantly, Hannah did, too.
