Cam Newton as Picasso? That’s what this NFL Network analyst thinks
Popular NFL funnyman Dave Dameshek of the NFL Network turned his lens on Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton for his “Reality Shek” segment ahead of Sunday’s game with Atlanta.
Dameshek was very complimentary of the Panthers quarterback, unlike, say, Fox Sports Colin Cowherd, who oftens criticizes Newton’s game.
In his piece, Dameshek says Newton had the greatest rookie season in NFL history to go with three Division titles and winning the NFL MVP “while throwing the ball to Ted Ginn Jr. and Philly Brown.”
Dameshek said Newton’s completion percentage isn’t as important as his results, saying Newton is different than Tom Brady, Drew Bees and Aaron Rodgers.
“Just because you can enjoy the classic paintings of Michaelangelo and Carravagio shouldn’t preclude you from also enjoying a Picasso,” Dameshek concludes. “You just have to adjust your eye a little bit to see the unique modern artistry of Cam.”
