Panthers’ resodding to wrap up Thursday night
The Carolina Panthers are resodding the middle part of the field at Bank of America Stadium ahead of the Jan. 17 playoff game, and work is expected to wrap up by Thursday night.
Panthers spokesman Steven Drummond said the resodding that started after Sunday’s 38-10 win against Tampa Bay also includes the entrance to the tunnel, which had also become muddy.
Several players including Panthers quarterback Cam Newton slipped on the grass during Sunday’s last regular game of the season.
The game was just four days after N.C. State and Mississippi State played for four hours in the rain during the Belk Bowl last week.
The re-sodding has been scheduled for a while, Drummond said, and the work being done on the field will last the team through the playoffs.
On Tuesday, crews were laying fresh sod outside the stadium as well.
