Charlotte bars toast the Panthers with themed cocktails
Want to catch a bit of playoff fever in a glass at a local bar?
Here are three drinks being mixed right now by Charlotte establishments in support of the Carolina Panthers:
1. The Carolina Pounder at The Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte: Visitors to the Ritz’s lobby lounge can order this $15 cocktail – featuring Stoli Blueberi vodka, muddle lemons, simple syrup, blue Curaçao and garnished with blueberries and silver sugar on the rim – for as long as the Panthers remain alive in the postseason. The drink’s creator? Bob Peters of The Punch Room.
2. The “Keep Pounding” at Evoke: The restaurant inside Le Méridien Charlotte (555 S. McDowell St. in uptown) is currently offering this cocktail, made from rum, lemon and lime juices, vanilla-infused simple syrup and a splash of grenadine. The drink costs $10.
3. “The Victory Potion” at Hickory Tavern: Previously known as the Schmekel, the teal-colored cocktail starts with a shot blending Bacardi 151 Rum, Blue Curacao, vodka and a maraschino cherry; that shot is then dropped Boilermaker-style into a pint of Red Bull. The drink starts at $5.50, although prices and participation may vary by location.
