Check out this cool photo of you at Sunday’s Panthers game
If you were in the crowd at the Panthers’ playoff game against the Seahawks on Sunday, you probably snapped a selfie or a shot of the field to share with (i.e. brag to) your social circle.
But if for some reason you didn’t, there’s a very good chance that an interactive 360-degree photograph – assembled by Academy Sports Outdoors’ Panthers Fancam – can help you prove to your friends and family that you were there.
Though it sounds too good to be true, you indeed will be able to navigate around a static photo of Bank of America Stadium, and every individual face is unmistakeable and crystal-clear (unless, of course, you were in the bathroom again, or in the beer line, again).
A photographer captured the incredibly high-quality images needed to create the interactive photo during the first half of the game. The website allows fans to use Facebook to tag themselves.
Similar Fancams have been used throughout the season at the New England Patriots’ Gillette Stadium and for the Denver Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Academy Sports Outdoors sponsored its first Fancam at NRG Stadium in Houston during the Texans’ wild card game against Kansas City.
“We’ve really worked at identifying ways to do some innovative fan engagement,” said Toby Wyman, senior director of promotions for Academy Sports Outdoors. “With Fancam, it’s been great to see just the level of engagement among fans, and ... that’s what we want: seeing the fans having the ability to share their moment, which was a great moment in Charlotte sports.”
The Panthers posted a link to the Fancam Tuesday morning, and within five hours, the post had been liked more than 4,000 times, had been shared more than 1,600 times, and had generated nearly 500 comments.
Wyman said the Fancam will be put into use one more time at Bank of America Stadium this Sunday, when the Panthers host the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship Game.
So when the P.A. announcer gives the heads-up, remember to smile...
