The new issue of Sports Illustrated hits newsstands Wednesday and there are two covers featured: one with Cam Newton of the Panthers; and one with Von Miller of the Broncos.
Newton, the No. 1 pick in 2011 out of Auburn, and Miller, the No. 2 pick in the same draft out of Texas A&M, have led their teams to Super Bowl 50.
From the Sports Illustrated news release:
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is featured on one of this week’s Sports Illustrated covers with the cover line, "Newton's Law; Cam and the Panthers Keep Going Up, Show No Signs of Coming Down.” For the cover story, SI Writer Austin Murphy reports on the Panthers’ success in the NFC Championship game over the Arizona Cardinals and how Newton inspired a team of misfits to become the odds-on Super Bowl favorites.
In a story for the other national cover this week, SI Senior Writer Greg Bishop details the Denver Broncos’ defensive push into Super Bowl 50 and how Denver’s defense propelled Peyton Manning to his chance at a second championship ring. Denver Broncos offensive linebacker Von Miller is featured with the cover line, “Orange Rush; Peyton Manning Will Be The Super Bowl Narrative But the Broncos’ Soul-Crushing D Is the Story.”
