Carolina Hurricanes roster for 2022 NHL Prospects Showcase includes 14 drafted players

Former first-round draft pick Ryan Suzuki will be among the Carolina Hurricanes’ prospects team that will compete in the 2022 NHL Prospects Showcase this month, the team announced Thursday.

The event is scheduled Sept. 16-19 at Invisalign Arena, the Canes’ practice facility in Morrisville, and PNC Arena. Admission to all games is free.

The Canes’ roster includes 14 players who were drafted by the Hurricanes. Joining Suzuki, who represented the team at the recent NHLPA Rookie Showcase in Washington, are:

Jamieson Rees (2019, second round), Noel Gunler (2020, second round), Vasily Ponomarev (2020, second round), Anttoni Honka (2019, third round) and Tuukka Tieksola (2019, fourth round),

More recent selections include 2022 draft pick Jakub Vondras (sixth round) and 2021 draft picks Patrik Hamrla (third round), Bobby Orr (fifth round), Justin Robidas (fifth round) and Bryce Montgomery (sixth round).

The four teams will face off during the four-day event, which begins Friday, Sept. 16, with the Carolina Hurricanes playing the Florida Panthers at Invisalign Arena at 10 a.m. Nashville and Tampa Bay also are competing.
