Charlotte Checkers lose 9-3 to San Antonio

San Antonio scored twice in the first three minutes and went on to rout the Charlotte Checkers 9-3 Tuesday night.

The Checkers cut into the Rampage’s lead and trailed 3-2 in the second period but gave up another goal in the second before allowing five in the third period.

The nine goals allowed by Charlotte marked the most in the team’s five AHL seasons. The five third-period goals tied a franchise record for goals allowed in a single period set on five previous occasions.
