Outdoors events calendar for 03.26.15
Saturday: Special wild turkey hunting day in S.C. for youths 17 and under on private land in Game Zones 1-5 and on all Wildlife Management Areas where bagging turkey gobblers is allowed.
March 26-28: Carhartt Bassmaster College Eastern Regional tournament, Lake Norman, Blythe Landing.
March 27-29: 31st Annual Palmetto Sportsmen’s Classic, S.C. State Fairgrounds, 1200 Rosewood Dr., Columbia. Features appearances by celebrity outdoorsmen, huge aquarium, hunting-fishing seminars, approximately 300 exhibitors/vendors. Hours are noon-8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Admission $8, seniors $7, children 10 and under, free. Sponsored by S.C. Department of Natural Resources. April 1-2: Wildlife Resources Commission wild turkey seminars for introductory hunters (April 1) and advanced hunters (April 2), Mountain Horticulture Crops Research and Extension Center, 455 Research Drive, Mills River. Information: 828-684-3562.

April 4: N.C. mountain trout season opens at 7 a.m. on waters carrying “hatchery supported” classification. Creel limit is seven per day. There are no size or bait restrictions.

April 11-May 9: Statewide N.C. hunting season for male and bearded turkeys only.
April 16: Top Shelf Fishing Festival For Wounded Warriors, Lake Norman, Pinnacle Access Area. A meal for the military veterans will be held at Berea Baptist Church. Volunteers in their boats guide the vets for a free day of fishing (more volunteers are needed). Information: mailbox@operationnorthstate.com.
April 30 (tentative): End of striped bass season, Roanoke River.
