College Baseball Roundup: Old Dominion dominates Charlotte 49ers to take series

Old Dominion scored 15 unanswered runs to take a 15-1 victory in seven innings against Charlotte on Sunday. The Monarchs rapped out 17 hits to clinch the three-game Conference USA series.

Logan Sherer had two of Charlotte’s three hits and was 8-for-13 in the series with a pair of doubles and three runs scored for the 49ers (11-15, 5-10).

Old Dominion (16-13, 5-7) broke the game open with seven runs in the sixth inning to help bring the 10-run mercy rule into effect.

North Carolina 8, Clemson 7: Tyler Ramirez drove in five runs and hit his fourth home run of the year to help the visiting Tar Heels (18-13, 7-8 ACC) avoid a sweep.

Reed Rohlman and Andrew Cox had two hits and Chris Okey drove in three runs for the Tigers (16-15, 7-8).

Miami 10, Duke 0: Enrique Sosa, Daniel Briggi and Ryan Otero combined on a three-hit shutout for the host Hurricanes (24-9, 11-4 ACC).

Peter Zyla, Daniel Calabretta and Ryan Day had the hits for the Blue Devils (19-13, 4-11).

Boston College 10, Wake Forest 7: Chris Shaw hit three home runs, including a grand slam, to help lift the visiting Eagles (13-16, 5-9 ACC).

Nate Mondou was 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs for the Deacons (21-13, 8-7).

Troy 12, Appalachian State 5: Michael Pierson had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run for the host Mountaineers (10-23, 3-12 Sun Belt).

Troy (17-16, 6-6) clinched the series.

Elon 6, Northeastern 3: Andy Moore was 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBIs for the host Phoenix (14-16, Colonial Athletic Association), who won the series.

Northeastern is 11-18, 4-5.

Western Carolina 13, Wofford 5: Bradley Strong went 4-for-5 with four RBIs for the host Catamounts (14-4, 6-3 Southern Conference), who had 12 hits.

Wofford lost the series to fall to 24-11, 3-3.
