The Hounds open their fourth Major League Lacrosse season at home against the Rattlers, one of the league’s best teams in 2014, in a rare Sunday afternoon game. … After advancing to the MLL championship game in 2013, Charlotte struggled last season, finishing a league-worst 4-10. While the Hounds had a winning record at home (4-3), they went 0-7 on the road. … Rochester is coming off a MLL-best 10-4 regular-season finish last season, but the Rattlers lost to the Denver Outlaws in the championship game. … Charlotte is 0-3 in its MLL season-opening games, all at Memorial Stadium. … Rochester leads the all-time series with the Hounds 4-2, including a sweep of last season’s games. … Charlotte has named midfielder John Haus and defender Joe Cinosky team captains for the 2015 season. … The Hounds will be without defender Mason Poli (college coaching commitments), midfielder Mike Chanenchuk (recovering from wrist surgery), and attacker Garrett Thul (military commitments). … Rochester will be without midfielder Stephen Ianzito and faceoff specialist John Ortolani due to injuries, and attackers Miles Thompson and Mark Matthews and midfielder Jordan MacIntosh because of indoor lacrosse commitments.
