Saturday: 37th Annual Youth Hunter Skills Tournament for high school and middle school competitors, Millstone 4-H Center, Ellerbe.

April 30 (tentative): End of striped bass season, Roanoke River.

April 30: Top Shelf Fishing Festival for Wounded Warriors, Badin Lake, Circle Drive Access Area. Information: 336-406-3459 or email mailbox@operationnorthstate.com.

April 30-May 2: Fifth annual Three Rivers Fly Fishing tournament for mountain trout, a team event, Highlands. Casting clinic at Lake Harris in downtown on Thursday before competition begins Friday. Benefits local scholarship fund. Information: hilary@highlandhiker.com.

May 2: Crackerneck Wildlife Management Area in Aiken County, S.C., open to public for scouting of game, fishing, hiking, bicycle and horseback riding. The area famed for its deer hunting also will be open each following Saturday in May. Information: caudellm@dnr.sc.gov and 803-725-3663.

May 9: Carolinas Bass Challenge Series tournament, Lake Hickory. Entry fee $200 for two-person teams. Based at Whittenburg Access Area. Information: Brett Collins, 803-679-4228.
