Tiger Woods won’t play in Charlotte’s Wells Fargo Championship
Tiger Woods won’t play in next month’s Wells Fargo Championship at Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Club, a tournament spokesman confirmed Wednesday.
It’s possible that a temporary date change for the tournament might have cost the tournament Woods. Normally played during the first week of May (this week), the tournament was moved back two weeks to accommodate the WGC Match Play in San Francisco. Woods’ Tiger Jam fundraiser (an event that is extremely important to him) is scheduled for May 15-17 in Las Vegas.
Woods, who returned to competition during the Masters in April after missing about two months with a back injury, announced on Twitter on Wednesday he will play the U.S. Open, the British Open, the Memorial, Greenbrier and the Quicken Loans National. He had already announced he will play in next week’s Players Championship.
Woods won the Wells Fargo in 2008. He didn’t play in 2014 while recovering from an injury.
See you at the US Open, Open Champ, Memorial, Greenbrier and my Foundation’s event, the Quicken Loans National. Going to be a busy summer.
