The week ahead in sports: Knights, Davidson, soccer, Panthers rookie minicamp

Sunday: The Charlotte Knights play Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at 2:05 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark. It’s the last time to catch the Knights before they head out on a week-long road trip beginning Tuesday. Tickets: 704-274-8300: http://www.milb.com

Tuesday: Davidson plays Duke in a nonconference baseball game at 6 p.m. at the Wildcats’ Wilson Field. Davidson is playing well in its first season in the Atlantic 10, and has one of the league’s top hitters in rightfielder Lee Miller, who was hitting .382 entering a weekend series at George Mason.

Friday: The Charlotte Independence plays its second consecutive United Soccer League home match when it goes against the Richmond Kickers at Winthrop’s Eagle Field. It will be a homecoming for Independence midfielders and brothers Enzo and Alex Martinez, who grew up in Rock Hill and played at Northwestern High. Tickets: 704-206-1515 or www.ticketmaster.com.
