Trivia question: How many Olympic gold medals has Michael Phelps won (answer below)? Phelps will return to Charlotte for the Arena Pro Swim Series event at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center (it’s sold out). Phelps will be racing for a second time after a six-month suspension for drunk driving. He will renew his rivalry with Charlotte resident Ryan Lochte in the butterfly and freestyle events. Trivia answer: Eighteen (22 medals overall).
College baseball
Trivia question: Which NASCAR Hall of Famer has a son playing for the Charlotte 49ers (answer below)? A local rivalry will be renewed at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when the 49ers face Winthrop at Winthrop Ballpark in Rock Hill. The 49ers will conclude their regular season with a Conference USA series Thursday-Saturday against Texas-San Antonio at Hayes Stadium. Winthrop will end its Big South regular season with a three-game series at Longwood. Answer: Dale Jarrett’s son Zach is a first baseman for the 49ers.
