N.C. State to face Florida State in ACC baseball final

Florida State’s Drew Carlton shut out top-seeded Louisville through seven innings on five hits and was the beneficiary of some timely small ball as the fourth-seeded Seminoles claimed a 6-0 victory in the final round of pool play on Saturday in the ACC baseball tournament.

Florida State (40-19) will play sixth-seeded N.C. State (33-20) at 1 p.m. Sunday for the ACC title and an automatic berth in the next week’s NCAA tournament. Kip Coons

Miami 6, Notre Dame 5: Down a run going into the bottom of the ninth, the Hurricanes’ Christopher Barr opened with a solo home run to tie the game at 5. With one out, Zack Collins walked and David Thompson was hit by a pitch. Garrett Kennedy singled to load the bases and Brandon Lopez singled to bring home Collins.

Notre Dame (36-20)/Miami (43-14)


VCU 5, Rhode Island 3: VCU won the championship when the Rams broke a 3-all tie in the eighth inning. James Bunn singled to bring in Haiden Lamb and Bunn later came in on a passed ball.

Rhode Island 4, Davidson 3: The Wildcats’ first A-10 tournament rally fell short in Arlington, Va. The Wildcats, who eliminated top-seeded Saint Louis and No. 6-seed George Washington on Friday, finished their season 28-22.


Radford 5, Coastal Carolina 4: Making their first appearance in the title game since 1993, the Highlanders (43-14) outhit the Chanticleers 10-5, and got three when it mattered most, in the bottom of the ninth. Hunter Higgerson singled to left field to bring in Chris Coia, who opened the inning with an infield single and stole third base.
