Charlotte swimmers break national record in 4x100 freestyle relay

A SwimMAC Carolina relay team set a new national age group record on Friday at the Long Course Speedo Sectionals in Athens, Ga.

Kathleen Baker, Alyssa Marsh, Rebecca Postoll and Jessica Merritt swam the 4x100 freestyle relay in a time of 3:45.51, beating the old record for 17-18 year-old girls by nearly three seconds.

This fall, Baker will attend the University of California-Berkeley and Postoll will attend the University of Michigan. Merritt is a rising senior at Hough High School and Marsh will be a senior at Pine Lake Prep.
