Outdoors events calendar for 09.03.15

Through Sept. 30: N.C. season on Canada geese.

Through Oct. 3: First segment of N.C. season on rails, gallinules and moorhens. Second segment is Oct. 23-Nov. 28.

Saturday-Monday: Opening segment of S.C. dove season. Shooting hours are noon until sunset.

Saturday through Oct. 10: First segment of N.C. dove season. Second segment is Nov. 23-Jan. 15.

Sunday: Courtesy boat inspection by officers of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, 10 a.m.-noon, Colonel Creek Landing, Lake Wateree.

Tuesday through Oct. 17: Second segment of S.C. dove season. Shooting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise until sunset. Following segments are Nov. 14-28 and Dec. 15-Jan. 15 with the same shooting hours.

Wednesday: Seminar on how to navigate Lake Norman, 6:30 p.m., Peninsula Yaacht Club, 18501 Harbor Light Blvd., Cornelius. Information: 704-892-7575.

Sept. 12-30: N.C. season on September teal (east of U.S. 17 only).

Sept. 16: Seminar on interpreting sonar and side-scan images, 6:30 p.m., Gander Mountain, I-77 Exit 36, Mooresville. Conducted by Jake Bussolini, who also will offer tips on fall fishing for hybrids, spotted bass and stripers at Lake Norman. Information: 704-658-0822.
