Oct. 10-11: Fall Brawl King Classic, based at Ocean Isle Fishing Center. Fishing tournament for king mackerel. Entry fee $215 per boat through Friday, $250 afterward. Entrants fish either Oct. 10 or 11. Information: 910-253-3474.

Oct. 10: End of blackpowder deer season in N.C. western counties. Regular firearms season is Nov. 23-Dec. 12. Information: ncwildlife.org.

Oct. 10: Carolinas Bass Challenge Series N.C. Championship, Lake Wylie. Based at Ebeneezer Park landing. Entry fee $200 per two person team (entrants must have fished at least one of the regular-season tournaments). Information: Brett Collins, 803-413-7521 or brett@carolinabasschallenge.com.

Oct. 10: End of first segment of N.C. dove season. Second segment is Nov. 23-Jan. 15.

Oct. 12 through Feb. 29: Statewide N.C. hunting seasons for gray and red squirrel, raccoon, bobcat and opossum.

Oct. 12 through Feb. 29: Hunting season in Western N.C. counties for mountain grouse.

Oct. 16: Blackpowder deer season ends in Eastern N.C. counties. Regular firearms season is Oct. 17-Jan. 1. Information: ncwildlife.org.

Oct. 17: Lake Norman Open Fishing Tournament, based at Beatties Ford Access Area on Unity Church Road in Lincoln County. Divisions for largemouth/spotted bass, striped bass/hybrids and kayakers. Entry fee $100 per boat for the bass divisions, $40 for kayaks. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Information: folkn.com.

Oct. 17: End of second segment of S.C. dove season. Shooting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise until sunset. Following segments are Nov. 14-28 and Dec. 15-Jan. 15 with the same shooting hours.

Oct. 29-31: U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament, Southport-Oak Island. Postponed from Oct. 1-3 because of foul weather and rough seas. Top prize for largest single king mackerel is $25,000. Cash prizes for top 55 finishers. Based at Southport City Pier and South Harbor Marina. Entry fee $330 per boat. Information: 800-457-6964 or fish@usopenkmt.com.

Oct. 31-Nov. 13: Blackpowder deer season in central N.C. counties. Regular firearms season is Nov. 14-Jan. 1. Information: ncwildlife.org.

Nov. 7-20: Blackpowder deer season in northwestern N.C. counties. Regular firearms season is Nov. 14-Jan. 1. Information: ncwildlife.org.

Nov. 12-Feb. 27: N.C. season on common snipe.

Nov. 21-Feb. 29: Statewide N.C. hunting seasons for quail and rabbit.

Dec. 17-Jan. 30: N.C. season on woodcock.
