Saturday: Regular firearms deer season begins in Eastern N.C. counties. Runs through Jan. 1. Information: ncwildlife.org.

Saturday: Lake Norman Open Fishing Tournament, based at Beatties Ford Access Area on Unity Church Road in Lincoln County. Divisions for largemouth/spotted bass, striped bass/hybrids and kayakers. Entry fee $100 per boat for the bass divisions, $40 for kayaks. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Information: www.folkn.com.

Saturday: End of second segment of S.C. dove season. Shooting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise until sunset. Following segments are Nov. 14-28 and Dec. 15-Jan. 15 with the same shooting hours.
