Saturday: Basic fly fishing clinics, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Pechmann Fishing Education Center, Fayetteville. Additional clinics will be held Jan. 16 and Jan. 30 at the same time and location. Jan. 7: N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission public hearing for District 6 on proposed changes to management plans, fishing regulations and game lands regulations for 2016-17, 7 p.m., South Stanly High School, 40488 South Stanly School Road, Norwood.

Jan. 13: N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission public hearing for District 8 on proposed changes to management plans, fishing regulations and game lands regulations for 2016-17, 7 p.m., Moore Hall, Western Piedmont Community College, 1001 Burkemont Ave., Morganton.

Jan. 14: N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission public hearing for District 7 on proposed changes to management plans, fishing regulations and game lands regulations for 2016-17, 7 p.m., Elkin High School, 334 Elk Spur St., Elkin.

Jan. 15: End of final segment of S.C. dove season. Shooting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise until sunset.

Jan. 23: N.C. Catfishing Association Tournament, 7 a.m.-3 p.m., Lake Norman. Based at Pinnacle Access Area near the Highway 150 Bridge. Information: (828) 312-4486.

Jan. 30: End of N.C. season on woodcock.
