Feb. 27: N.C. Catfishing Association Tournament, 7 a.m.-3 p.m., Badin Lake. Based at Alcoa/Badin Works Access Area. Information: 828-312-4486.

Feb. 27: End of N.C. season on common snipe.

Feb. 27-28: Fly Fishing Merit Badge Clinic for Boy Scouts age 11 and older, Pechman Fishing Education Center, Fayetteville. Overnight camping for troops available. Maximum 10 scouts from each troop. Loaner equipment available. Information: John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center webpage.

Feb. 29: End of statewide N.C. hunting seasons for quail, rabbit, gray and red squirrel, raccoon, bobcat and opossum.

Feb. 29: End of season in Western N.C. counties for mountain grouse.

March 2-3: 28th Annual Wild Quail Management Seminar, Webb Wildlife Center, 1282 Webb Avenue, Garnett (Hampton County), S.C. Sponsored by S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
