Phil Mickelson commits to play in Wells Fargo Championship
Phil Mickelson, who has come close but never won the Wells Fargo Championship, has committed to play in the PGA tournament at Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Club next week.
Mickelson has eight top-10 finishes in 12 appearances at the Wells Fargo, most in tournament history. Mickelson, who is ranked 21st in the world, finished second in 2010 and he tied for fourth as recently as 2015. He is third on the tournament’s all-time money list with earnings of more than $2.9 million.
Deadline for player commitments for the tournament is Friday. Other top players who have already committed are defending champion Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott.
