Electrolux wins design awards for dishwashers and ovens

Electrolux has won four prestigious design awards for two models each of its dishwashers and ovens.

Electrolux, whose North American headquarters is in Charlotte, said it took home three platinum Awards for Design Excellence (ADEX) for its Double Wall Oven with Wave-Touch Controls, its Single Wall Oven with IQ-Touch Controls and its Dishwasher with SatelliteSpray Arm, as well as a gold award for its Dishwasher with IQ-Touch Controls.

The two ovens, Electrolux said, feature technology that circulates heat evenly for consistent taste and texture. The technology in the two dishwashers, the company said, allows them to clean dishes faster without increasing water usage.

“Electrolux is thrilled to be recognized for our superior attention to design details for the second year in a row, resulting in 18 ADEX award wins over the past ten years,” John Weinstock, senior vice president of marketing for Electrolux Major Appliances in North America, said in a statement Wednesday.

ADEX awards, Electrolux said, are the largest and most prestigious awards for project design in the architecture and design industry.

Charlotte’s research and development facility is where much of Electrolux’s innovation takes place, including that of “connected appliances” such as a new room air conditioner, slated to come out in May, that can be controlled by a mobile app.

Electrolux moved its North American headquarters from Augusta, Ga., to Charlotte in 2010, lured partially by a $27 million incentives package. The company employs about 925 people locally and has said it expects to increase the number to 1,600 by the end of 2017.
