Duke Energy donates $2.5 million to N.C. State University
Duke Energy has donated $2.5 million to North Carolina State University for renewable energy research and to attract students to engineering.
The grant distributed through the Duke Energy Foundation includes $1.5 million to endow the Future Renewable Electric Energy Distribution and Management Systems Center at State’s engineering college.
The center works to revamp the nation’s power grid and develop renewable-energy technologies.
Another $1 million will support workforce development programs and scholarships for underrepresented groups in engineering.
