Lego opening a SouthPark mall store
Popular toymaker Lego said Monday that it plans to open a store in SouthPark mall this summer.
The location will be the Danish company’s second in the Charlotte region. Lego operates a store in Concord Mills, which is owned by Simon Property Group, the same parent company as SouthPark.
The SouthPark store will be in the mall’s Nordstrom wing, next to the Lilly Pulitzer store.
“Our store at SouthPark will enhance our consumers’ overall LEGO brand experience through product variety, store design and regular hands-on family events,” said Eric Wolfe, Lego Group vice president, in a statement. “Children and families will be able to experience first-hand and hands-on the creativity and imagination that goes into LEGO building and be inspired by the over 4 million LEGO bricks that are in the store at any given time.”
The company said more details, including a grand opening date, will be available in the coming months.
Here are some of the features Lego said customers can expect at its new store:
▪ Duplo sets for smaller children, as well as branded sets of Lego bricks and characters, such as Lego Star Wars.
▪ A “Pick-A-Brick Wall,” which lets customers choose and buy Lego bricks in bulk. Lego said this is “by far the most popular store feature.”
▪ A “Living Room,” Lego’s name for a space in the center of the store that gives customers that chance to play with Legos.
▪ A “Brand Ribbon,” or a display of Lego models running around the store’s walls, which also includes “company history and fun facts to entertain guests.”
